D.A.Y.M.A.
The Full Break-Down on DAYMA:
I didn't create it; it created me. I just named it. The following
is an excerpt from my book entitled, "The Definitive DAYMA
Experience."
D.A.Y.M.A. is an acronym derived
from four pillar disciplines: Dance, Athletics, Yoga, and Martial
Arts.
DAYMA is a BEGINNING for
people who want to take the first step on the road to better health
and a deeper understanding of their life on this planet.
DAYMA is a BRIDGE for
people to enter more advanced practices in dance, athletics, yoga
and martial arts.
DAYMA is also a PORTAL
for practitioners of dance, athletics, yoga and martial arts to
new venues where they can express the skills they have acquired
- on the dance floor.
DAYMA is an IGNITION to
learn new ways of self-expression.
DAYMA is an TOOLKIT.
DAYMA is a KEYSTONE that
allows you to incorporate nutritional, physiological, scientific
and spiritual knowledge into the practical application of a healthy
lifestyle.
DAYMA is a RECONNECTION
to the original language spoken by humans, one of basic movement
and insights that have been with us since the beginning of our
civilization.
DAYMA is above all else,
some of the most exceptionally FUN experiences you will ever have.
The quest for all-around radiant
health can be compared to a treasure hunt. The treasure is buried
within our bodies, locked inside a specific genetic code, which
needs to be expressed and then adapted to our current environmental
conditions. Cracking the code means harnessing the power encoded
in the nano-machinery of our physical form. If that sounds too
complicated, just look at it from this perspective: our minds
know how to find the treasure because our bodies provide the treasure
map. The key, literally and metaphorically, is to connect the
two.
Many of us have fallen off the
treasure hunt by adopting lifestyles that don't make our body
feel good. We place material possessions, passive recreational
activities and abstract ideologies above our own physical well-being.
To correct this misdirection, sagacious people - both ancient
and contemporary - have provided us instructions on how to access
our internal "wellness memory." These teachings include both practical
and esoteric knowledge. Certain basic principles prevail in all
these teachings, and in their purest form, they provides the different
means to the same end. The tenet common to each system is to develop
our physical form as a tool to connect first with ourselves, then
with the world around us, and thereby connect with the divine.
These knowledge systems have names
familiar to us all. Among them are dance, athletics, Yoga and
martial arts. Each incorporates mental exercises, spiritual/metaphysical
practices and interrelated physicality. The movement techniques
of each discipline evoke profound responses in the most ancient
parts of our brain. Movement supports and enhances all the chemical
and biological processes that our body needs to thrive. Through
movement practices of all kinds, we can optimize our physical
form. This renders that movement as an effective conduit for the
universal knowledge of vitality.
Our bodies contain the gold nuggets
for the health and well-being of our species. We just need to
re-learn how to dig-up the gold. I suppose, then, at its essence,
DAYMA is the "X marks the spot" on the treasure map. It's a place
to begin. You are here.
